Set Up Magnify Publisher for WordPress

Follow these steps to install and use the Magnify Publisher within your WordPress blog.
Requirements
  • WordPress version 2.0 or later.
  • Access to the server with permission to upload files into the WordPress installation directory. (Blogs hosted at WordPress.com currently do not allow you to upload plugins.)
Installation
You can use the same installation process as any other WordPress plugin, as described on WordPress.org.
  • Download the Magnify-Publisher-WP-0.97.zip package.
  • Use the "zip" tool to unpack the distribution archive.
  • Copy or move the Magnify-Publisher folder to your WordPress installation's wp-content/plugins directory.
For example, a typical desktop computer installation might go as follows:
  • Right-click this link and choose the "download" or "save" command: Magnify-Publisher-WP-0.97.zip
  • Double-click on the downloaded .zip file to expand it into a folder.
  • Start your favorite FTP program and connect to the server that hosts your WordPress installation.
  • Navigate to the WordPress installation, and then with it to the wp-content/plugins folder.
  • Upload the Magnify-Publisher folder from the zip file into the plugins folder.
A command-line Unix installation session might use the following commands:
cd /path/to/your/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/
curl -O http://www.magnify.net/decor/wp/Magnify-Publisher-WP-0.97.zip
unzip Magnify-Publisher-WP-0.97.zip
Configuration
  • Open the WordPress administration panel and click on the Plugin tab.
  • Click on "Plugins Management" and enable the "Magnify-Publisher" plugin
  • Click on "Magnify Publisher Configuration" to add your existing Magnify channel to the plugin or create a new channel quickly and easily.
Usage
  • Click "Write" or "Post" to begin creating a new blog post.
  • Click on the orange "m" button in the editor formatting toolbar.
  • Use the publisher interface to find, upload, or embed a video or image.
  • Click the embed button to close the publisher interface and place the selected media item into your blog post.
  • A placeholder image appears within the editor window and you can position it and place text around it as you'd like.
  • When you publish the entry, your visitors will be able to watch and interact with the media you've embedded.
