Setting Up a Domain Name Exclusively for a Magnify Channel

To operate the site as the primary server for your domain name, you will need to add an address in your DNS configuration that points to Magnify's servers, then enter the new name in your Magnify channel admin tool. For example, if you wanted people to access the site as example.com and www.example.com, you would need to update your DNS records to define an address for example.com and an alias for www.example.com. The procedure for defining the address depends on the type of DNS server you are using; please follow the below directions by domain registrar, and when in doubt, check with the service you're using for additional help or instructions.

Also keep in mind that changes to DNS records make take up to 48 hours to take effect, so you may need to wait before you are able to complete the final step of these procedures.

1. Log in to your account on your hosting service's website, and go to the DNS management page. Since A-Records and CNAMEs are special Domain Name Service (DNS) records, they may be in sections such as DNS Management or Name Server Management. It's possible that you will have to enable advanced settings to create an A-Record/CNAME.
2. You should be able to find instructions on adjusting your "A-Record". The A-record needs to point to the IP address, "208.70.246.59".
3. Now you will need to add a CNAME alias in order to be able to use the "www" prefix in your domain name. When creating a CNAME, make the value "www" and the destination, if asked for one, "@".
4. Go back to your Magnify channel and go into site admin → Change name or web address → and type your new custom URL underneath "Custom Domain Alias" and click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
