Video Sharing and Creative Rights

Q: “How can I prevent my video from being shown on Magnify.net channels?”

Some video hosting services let you disable the embedding of videos you've uploaded there on to other sites. (Your video clips will still be available on the main hosting site, but people will not be able to embed and watch them on third-party sites, including Magnify.net channels.)

To disable off-site embedding of a clip uploaded to YouTube:

  • Sign in at http://www.youtube.com/login.
  • In the blue bar near the top-right corner of the page, click the "My: Videos" link.
  • Locate the video in question and click the "Edit Video Info" button next to it.
  • In the "Allow External Sites to Embed This Video:" section, check the box for "Disabled."
  • Click the "Update Video Info" button.

To disable off-site embedding of a clip uploaded to Google Video:

  • Sign in at https://upload.video.google.com/.
  • Locate the video in question and click the "Edit Video Info" link next to it.
  • Click "Advanced Options."
  • In the "Embedded video" section, un-check the box for "Allow users to place this video on their own websites."
  • Click the "Save Video Information" button.

Video Uploads

Some Magnify sites allow users to upload their own video to one or more hosting services.

Users are only permitted to upload material which they created or have a license to share. (For example, uploading professionally produced music, television, or movie content typically requires the approval of the work's creator or distributor.) Users who post material in violation of others copyrights may have their accounts suspended.
