Video Transcoding

The Magnify encoding solution is powered by the state-of-the-art Flix Engine software by On2. Magnify currently supports the upload and import of a wide variety of video file formats, including the following: MPEG, AVI, Windows Media, Quicktime, Flash, Sorensen Spark, VP6, H.263, H.264, and others.

All videos uploaded or imported to a Magnify channel that are not already in Flash-compatible formats are encoded using the VP6 codec at 400x300 resolution with a variable bit rate capped at 424 kbps.

The admin side-loader tool enables videos to be encoded from a multiple source such as an FTP server.

Content Delivery Networks

Magnify.net code base includes existing support for integration with CDN services provided by Amazon S3 and by Limelight Networks. Other CDN services can be integrated upon request.

Content Workflow

Core to the Magnify Content Curation solution is an industry-leading content workflow solution that provides permissionable approval, rejection, peer review, email notifications. The ingest engine allows for submission from Magnify's Automatic Video Discovery (AVD) web-search and embedding technology. In addition, video can be added by users via upload or webcam. Admins and editors have access to the same suite of video sources. The power of the solution allows for videos from different sources to be treated differently. For example, videos by Admins can go live without administrative review, while videos from users are cued for review and approval. All review notifications can be pushed via-broadcast email to individual or group users on a search by search basis.

Organization

Video within the Magnify.net platform can be sorted and preset using a robust meta-tag database. Metadata is gathered from existing data as videos are discovered and curated. Additionally, metadata can be added or edited at any time by users or admins. Bulk changes can be made across selected videos.

Playlists - Playlists can be generated and updated automatically based on key words, or selected tags. A variety of "built-in" playlists includes Most Popular, Most Discussed, Highest Rated, and Most Recent. Both administrators and visitors can create playlists -- but only Admins can place them on the sit for public presentation.

Tags - Magnify.net discovers and imports all tags associated with discovered video. Tags are provided to improve search, to generate Most Popular Tag Cloud for the home page, and to drive automatic playlist creation and updates. Users can tag their own submitted video, and admins can add, edit, or delete tags. In addition a "Suggested Tags" and a "Banned Tags" function allows for consistent tagging across multiple users.

Geolocation - Finding the location of a video can provide unique way to organize, search, and present video data. Magnify.net provides a simple yet powerful way to map the Geolocation data of any video submitted by users or site admins or editors. The GeoTagging function can be targeted with a zip code, street address, or major landmark.

Video Discovery

Our patent-pending Video Discovery solution enables you to find and embed Internet video. Video Discovery 'normalizes' searches across more than 20 of the most popular video sources, and provides comprehensive search result from these sites on a single curation dashboard in less than 15 seconds.

Video meta-search - Our search includes single world, phrase, and negative search terms, allowing for the creation of complex and highly productive automated searches.

For example, the search "Mars -Veronica" will find videos about the planet Mars, but no videos with the television character Veronica Mars.

Scheduled AVD - Once site admins have created a search that finds appropriate video for them, the search and be automated using our Automatic Video Discovery (AVD) control panel. The frequency, focus, and number of videos discovered can be selected and specific admins or editors can be notified when the AVD has discovered and cued videos for admin approval.
